At our Board Meeting today, Clare Hasler (President) said that many of the attendees did not want to see your presentation end. It was one of our BEST luncheon programs ever. I am going to let people know of the dates that you will be in Central Florida in Feb. and March.

Just want to thank you, once again, for coming to St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church in Titusville yesterday to present your “A Land Remembered” Show to our RECESS folks! Even though they are deemed “seniors,” they are veryWHAT AN EVENING! ! ! RICK SMITH (Patrick D. As you could tell, we had a “full house,” and from all reports, EVERYONE thoroughly enjoyed your multimedia presentation! We have heard nothing but “rave reviews” about all facets of what you presented and how fortunate they were to meet you both and to learn more about your Dad and how his wonderful books came to fruition.
Again, thank you so much for including us on your tour around Florida and please feel free to come and visit us again, anytime.
Best wishes as you continue on your journey to tell others about “A Land Remembered,” and how it came to be!

We totally loved seeing you guys and the presentation was awesome! What a guy your father is! Wow wee!
My wife and I saw Rick when he came to Stuart. To say the least we were impressed. I want to urge him to come to Okeechobee on his fall speaking tour.
Thank you! My husband and I so enjoyed your presentation at the library in Cocoa.
Thank you so much for coming to Windy Ridge to speak with our sixth graders about your father and his wonderful legacy. The students have now finished volume 1 and can’t wait to start volume 2 of A Land Remembered. Our unit has been so enhanced by your personal account of childhood with your dad. You spoke beautifully and tailored the program perfectly for our kiddos! Thank you again so much for your visit!
I made it to the Marco Island talk. Was a great show, and I managed to get a signed copy of the book A Land Remembered. Thank you for doing this tour.
One day I was looking through a Forum Magazine from the Florida Humanities group, and I noticed an article about Patrick Smith, his life’s adventures and the books he had written. I instantly knew I wanted him to talk to the Marco Island Historical Society members. I called the number listed and found his son, Rick Smith who agreed to travel to Florida from California and he was willing to do a presentation about his life with his famous, beloved father. His video clips with his father speaking all helped us to get to know the man behind the wonderful writings. What a wonderful tribute to a legend.Thank you, Rick

I attended the show yesterday in Melbourne. Really enjoyed it all. The venue and informal setting made it feel very personal. Rick does a great job entertaining (he really is funny!), Kim takes care of the tech and sales end and I learned some things about Patrick Smith that I didn’t know . I learned about the books I hadn’t read, and it won’t be long because I purchased them and have already begun reading The River is Home. Congratulations on a successful tour Rick and Kim.

Dear Mr. Smith,
I wanted to thank you for autographing the books I purchased last night. I know Riley Smith will be thrilled to get his copy. He’s “old Florida” and I think your father would have enjoyed talking with him. I also wanted to thank you for your wonderful presentation. To tell you the truth, I didn’t expect to be as spellbound as I was. It seems you inherited your father’s warmth, his sense of humor and talent for storytelling.
I hope you’ll be by this way again. Next time I’ll come a lot earlier to get a seat in the front!
Wishing you and your lovely wife all the best.

We really enjoyed the presentation you made at the Winter Haven Public Library (Kathryn Smith Library) here in Winter Haven last month. It happened to be on my 38th wedding anniversary, but my husband understood and let me take my Mom to see the presentation.
My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the 3 books we bought at the Englewood Library (Florida) and watching the presentation. I just ordered the rest of the books we did not have so am looking forward to receiving them. Our book club on the Gasparilla Islands is re-reading A Land Remembered…a book we did 4 years ago but want to do again. This will be the 3rd week in November when we all return for the winter. At that time, I shall take all my books and introduce the club to all the available titles.
What a wonderful service you are presenting to educate all the school children and residents of Florida. Thank You
I really enjoyed the talk at Manatee Historical Village. It was just wonderful!

I’m so happy I attended this today in Seminole. It was wonderful!
“Really enjoyed Rick Smith’s narration and videos of his father and his books, at the Library tonight. Really interesting, Patrick D. Smith, A Land Remembered and a lot of other real Florida books.”

“As a result of a special Christmas outing with dear family friends to the Edison/Ford Estate, I stumbled across a book “A Land Remembered” INCREDIBLE! and as fate would have it..Weedon Island Preserve (here in St Petersburg) hosted a program for Mr Smith’s son to pay tribute to his father! very special as he has just passed. I was very touched by the genuine character of this gentle man!…and my library did and will increase with more of his brilliant novels.
Along with this, I wish to thank all of the volunteers that share their passions and time allowing us the opportunities to experience and find treasures like these that are right in our own backyards!!!! ”
Carol wrote: “We love you here in Manatee County, Rick Smith, knew it would be packed. Lots of folks that would have loved to have been there busy getting ready to ride the Florida Cracker Trail Feb.14th at Kibler Ranch. Your father will be thought of with every hoof beat across the state this year. Thank you for carrying on his legacy.

Rick and Kim,
I wanted to mention to you that all of us at the Ocala show enjoyed your presentation very much. We’re glad we were able to schedule the show. Learning more about your father and his other works was fascinating, and we’re pleased that you had many book sales.
Also, I sincerely enjoyed meeting and talking with you both. Did you get a chance to go to Juniper Springs or any other springs the Monday after your show? Hope so. If you didn’t, you may want to put it on your bucket list. They’re incredibly beautiful.
Thank you again for sharing so much about your father and his books. He was a giant in literature and humanitarianism. Through his books he touched so many people with the importance of preserving our land and accepting all people.
Best of luck with the remainder of your shows this season and the future.
Wow, you two certainly get around.
I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful job you did at the Bruton Memorial Library in Plant City. People are still talking about it. The only negative I heard was that the venue was a bit cramped. Yep, it was, but everyone really enjoyed the overall experience. Great going!
Best regards – and keep up the good work! You’re welcome back here anytime.

Thanks so very much to you and Kim for the very fine program at our library this past Sunday afternoon. It genuinely was an honor to have you here with us. The attendance was very high for us, as I knew it would be, and the quality and content of the multi-media presentation was top drawer. My wish is for your father’s books to continue to draw readers of all ages, in Florida and beyond, and that his memory stays green, especially in his adopted state. Thank you, Rick, for a fine tribute

Your presentation was fabulous. We hope the rest of your tour is fortuitous and that you come back and see us.
All the best,

Thank you so much for an amazing program last night! We had at least 180 people in attendance and they had nothing but wonderful things to say about you, your presentation, the setup, etc. It was wonderful! I’m so glad we had the opportunity to host you here in Winter Haven – and our community thoroughly enjoyed you!
Public Services Librarian, City of Winter Haven
I just attended this multimedia “show” at the Big Cypress National Swamp heritage festival. What a treat! Way better than I expected. Rick graciously shared excerpts from his father that made you feel like you were meeting Patrick D. Smith himself.
