If you are gifting a book, and of course we highly recommend you do so, especially one of Patrick Smith’s books, you may run into a big problem.
It’s hard to wrap a book without the shape giving the contents away!
If you wrap them the way they are, it’s hard to disguise them, but using alternate methods of wrapping can keep the surprise. Even better, it adds some creative flair to the gift as well.
Here are some fun and festive ideas from expert wrappers and crafters to give your gifted book a little extra pizzazz.
Use a Spruced-Up Gift Bag
Gift bags with lots of tissue paper and a fun bow are great to use when gifting a book. Spruce it up by tying a little extra to the bow like a bookmark, highlighter or cute post-its. They are a fun addition and useful too!
Use a Large Box and Add Fun Extras
Book readers will be thrilled to open not just a book they have been eagerly waiting for, but also will enjoy an entire box filled with book related gifts that show you have put in some thought behind them.
Packaging tip: Place cardboard or plastic dividers inside a box. Add the book in one section, then fill the other sections with personalized items.
Get inspired by these ideas:
- A comfy pair of socks they can wear while curled up on the couch reading their new book. (I LOVE adding to my collection of novelty socks and there are some fun ones specific to Florida and dad’s books; cowboy boots, alligators, palm trees, etc. One of my favorite places to get socks on Amazon is through Sockologie.
- Yummy chocolates to nosh on.
- Or maybe a gift card to their favorite coffee shop or book store.
- A small ornament
- A scented candle to add a touch of holiday cheer.
These are just a few ideas to enhance your gift.
Want to add even more fun? Wrap each gift before putting them in the box.
Wrap It Up With a Present Pocket
Add a pocket to the top of your wrap job and slip a holiday card, gift card or bookmark inside.
A fun and festive way to add a bit of intrigue would be to use wrapping paper and/or themed decorations for your book. For example, if you’re giving The River is Home, wrap it in some water themed paper and attach a fabric flower or leafy branch to the ribbon. If it’s Forever Island or Allapattah, find some alligator skin or dark green paper and glue on a miniature plastic alligator. You get my drift.
Get Creative With DIY Kraft Paper
Making your own gift wrap gives a unique twist and it’s a great way to give A Land Remembered.
Use plain kraft paper, gingham ribbon and/or plain twine.
How about adding the MacIvey brand on the paper?
Have fun with these ideas. Anyway you wrap them, Patrick Smith books are treasured gifts.
